On 16th December 2011, Middy announced match ace Craig Butterfield as the new co-ordinator of sponsored anglers. As well as being at the forefront of product design and testing, Lincolnshire-based Craig will be extending the network of Middy sponsored anglers and has already made many additions to the team.
Date of Birth: 10/10/1983
From: Boston, Lincolnshire, UK
Occupation: Team Leader for Metsa Wood (Europe's biggest producer of machined timber), as well as Sponsorships Co-ordinator for Middy. (I'm pretty busy!)
Year Started Angling: I started fishing in 1990 aged seven, first piking and sea fishing and later moved onto general coarse fishing. I started match fishing when I was twelve.
Sponsored by Middy: June 2009
Favourite Commercial Fishery: Westwood Lakes (Lincolnshire)
Favourite Natural Venue: Bargate Drain (Boston), purely because I fished it at every available opportunity when I was growing up, including nearly every day of the summer holidays, so I got to know it quite well!
Favourite Method: Squat fishing
Favourite Middy Item: "The Shock Core Fusion XK55 pole is truly amazing and the best item of Middy tackle I have ever picked up. My favourite smaller item of tackle has to be the Carp Grey pole floats - this range of floats covers nearly all my fishing needs".
Angling Achievements:
Biggest Match Weight: 168lb 12oz (Westwood Lakes, 2011)
Angling Ambitions: To keep improving as an angler and win as many matches as possible. Like most anglers, I'd love to win one of the big money finals.
In the Media: Craig writes guest blogs for the Match Fishing and Pole Fishing websites - to keep up to date with his latest blogs, follow us on Facebook.
Interests Outside of Angling: I've been doing karate since the age of 5 and I've been lucky enough to travel all over the world fighting for Great Britain. I stopped fighting competitively in 2009 having won five European titles and the world title in 2006. I still train regularly and teach a junior class once a week.
